Year 4 students are reading and writing about poetry. They need to do a diamond poem at home.
diamond poem or diamante poem, is a style of poetry that is made up of
seven lines. The form was developed by Iris Tiedt in 1969. The poem
can be used in two ways: comparing or contrasting two different
subjects, or naming synonyms and antonyms for another subject.
The subject is named in the first line.
The second line consists of 2 adjectives describing the subject.
The third line contains 3 verbs ending in the suffix -ING which are related to the subject in the 1st line.
The fourth line has 4 nouns, related to the subject, but only the first two words are related to the first subject.
The 5th line is the same as line 3 but making reference to the subject in the last line.
The 6th line is the same as line 2 but making reference to the subject in the last line.
7th line is the second subject in the poem, that is different from the
first subject, or synomyn, or it can be all the contrary. CLICK HERE TO CREATE YOUR DIAMOND POEM
You have used the dictionaries in class. The dictionaries you brought to class were bilingual dictionaries (Spanish-English, English-Spanish). Now, it is time you use a monolingual dictionary. This time it will be an ON-LINE dictionary.
When you will search one word, you need to:
1. Go to the on-line dictionary.
2. Type the word.
3. Click SEARCH
4. And you will have the definition of that word.
